Cubs set to host 'Pink Out' event at Wrigley

MILWAUKEE -- In addition to participating in Mother's Day events at Miller Park, in which several players used pink bats or wore pink shoes, the Cubs will host their own event Monday to promote breast cancer prevention awareness.

Cubs Charities will hold its "Pink Out" event on Monday when the Cubs open a four-game series against the New York Mets at Wrigley Field.

Fans in the bleachers will receive a "Pink Out" T-shirt, and fans seated elsewhere will be able to obtain a shirt in exchange for a donation, collected by wives of Cubs players and coaches.

The renovated bleachers in left and center field at Wrigley Field are scheduled to open for Monday's game.

Cubs players will wear pink batting-practice jerseys that later will be auctioned off.

Ginny Cooper, a 10-year cancer survivor, will serve as the Cubs' Honorary Bat Girl and deliver the game's lineup card after being selected based on her story about "Going to Bat Against Breast Cancer."
