D-backs avoid arbitration with Hellickson

The D-backs have avoided arbitration with newly-acquired right-hander Jeremy Hellickson, agreeing to a one-year contract for the 2015 season.

The team made the news official on Friday morning. CBSSports.com previously reported that Hellickson will make $4.275 million in 2015 after making $3.625 million last year with the Rays.

The righty will be in his first season with Arizona after he was acquired on Nov. 14 for Minor Leaguers Andrew Velazquez and Justin Williams.

Hellickson, 27, was 40-36 with a 3.78 ERA in his five-year career with Tampa Bay.

The D-backs have two remaining arbitration-eligible players: right-hander Addison Reed and outfielder Mark Trumbo.
