No. 1 overall pick Swanson set for pro debut
D-backs' top prospect joins Rookie-level Hillsboro after missing three weeks due to concussion
The No. 1 overall selection in this June's Draft, Dansby Swanson, was set to make his Minor League debut on Wednesday with Class A Hillsboro.
Swanson, the D-backs' top prospect, suffered a concussion nearly three weeks ago when he was hit in the mouth by a pitch in a simulated game at the D-backs' Spring Training facility, derailing plans for him to begin his professional career with the D-backs' rookie-level Arizona team. He passed a concussion test on Monday and was scheduled to fly to Hillsboro on Tuesday night to join the team for its Wednesday evening contest against Vancouver.
