D-backs' Hernandez plays in extended spring game

PHOENIX -- D-backs reliever David Hernandez pitched in a game for the first time since undergoing Tommy John surgery last year when he threw one inning in an extended spring game against the Brewers on Saturday.

"I was excited just to feel a part of a team," Hernandez said. "It was just a weight off my shoulders. It felt good to be back out there. The command wasn't anywhere near where I wanted it to be."

Hernandez threw 13 pitches and allowed one infield hit. He is scheduled to pitch in another extended spring game Tuesday and a total of five before heading off on a Minor League rehab assignment.
