D-backs feeling confident following walk-off victory

PHOENIX -- The D-backs are hoping to ride the momentum from their walk-off win on Saturday and use it as a springboard moving forward.

"Nothing too much," said Gerardo Parra, who hit the game-winning blooper. "This guy makes one pitch and just let me put it in play."

The D-backs have been playing much better after starting the season 8-22. They've won four of their last six series heading into Sunday's rubber match against the Braves.

"It was a great win," manager Kirk Gibson said. "We dug deep, we did it against some very good pitching.

"It was disappointing when we gave up the lead and gave up the lead again. To our credit, we kept the accelerator down and took what was given to us."

Saturday's 4-3 win was the D-backs' third walk-off victory of the season. The last one was center fielder A.J. Pollock's walk-off homer against the Padres on May 27.

Pollock watched last night's walk-off from the bench, sidelined with a broken hand that will keep him out for 6-8 weeks. But that didn't stop him from being involved in the game.

"I felt like I was in there. It was great," Pollock said. "It was a great win for us. Best closer in the game [Craig Kimbrel] out there going for a save … and we were able to scratch out a run and battle back."

For a season that has been so frustrating, Gibson said the win was a good indicator of better things to come.

"That's a great sign. That's great growth, I think," he said. "We've been working to a lot of things all year, and starting to see some of it come to fruition."
