Hill's broken left hand showing improvement
D-backs second baseman cleared to do strengthening exercises, swing bat
PHOENIX -- D-backs second baseman Aaron Hill had another CT scan taken of his left hand Tuesday and according to the team, it showed mild improvement.
Hill has been on the disabled list since April 15 with a small fracture and he had to wear a brace since. While he has been able to throw, he has not been able to catch the ball nor swing a bat.
After a meeting with Dr. Don Sheridan and a radiologist Tuesday, it was determined that Hill could start to proceed with activity.
The plan is for him to do strengthening exercises for the hand, followed by swinging a bat and he will be evaluated over the next two weeks to see how it responds.
Hill was hitting .306 with an on-base plus slugging mark of .960 when he was hit on the hand by a James McDonald fastball. He briefly tried to play again after X-rays were negative, but continued to have discomfort. A CT scan taken showed a small fracture.
