New season, new unis for D-backs in 2016

PHOENIX -- The D-backs will sport a new look in 2016, as the team is making changes to its uniforms.

Team president/CEO Derrick Hall is expected to announce at Friday's D-backs Celebrity Golf Classic that the evolution of the team's uniforms will continue.

Details will not be revealed until the new uniforms are officially unveiled on Dec. 3, but there is not expected to be a change in colors or logo.

"This is an exciting time for our franchise, as we have a unique opportunity to continue to evolve our uniforms," said Hall. "We have worked closely with our players for a year and a half to get their input, as well as feedback from fans and some of the top uniform experts in the world."

The process of designing the new uniforms began midway through the 2014 season, and the team took the extra step of involving its players in the process.

"I'm excited to be a part of this transition in 2016," first baseman Paul Goldschmidt said. "It's been great to be a part of the process over the past year-plus in helping the Diamondbacks come up with uniforms that will look good and keep the tradition of both our franchise and the sport of baseball. As a player, the most important thing we can do is go out and put a winning team on the field."

The 2016 season will be the team's 19th. For the first nine, the primary colors were purple and teal. Prior to the 2007 season, the team switched to Sedona Red, Sonoran Sand and black, and also changed their primary logo.
