D-backs to host first Throwback Thursday, Presented by Chase, this week
D-backs alumni Augie Ojeda and Junior Spivey to take part in Throwback Thursday festivities
PHOENIX - With help from Chase (@Chase), the Arizona Diamondbacks (@Dbacks) will pay tribute to the team's history by wearing the Alternate Home Vest Uniform (worn from 1998-2006, including the 2001 World Series) at every Thursday home game throughout the 2015 season. This Thursday will be the first of seven Throwback Thursdays (#DbacksTBT) this season, presented by Chase, and fans can expect to see the retro purple and teal colors incorporated in every game element at Chase Field, including signage, video and photos on dbTV.
Fans can enjoy a pregame Q&A session with Ojeda and Spivey beginning at 5:30 p.m. at the Game Seven Grill (@GameSevenGrill) stage. Ojeda will also throw out the ceremonial first pitch and Spivey will catch. In addition, D-backs legend Luis Gonzalez will conduct a Facebook chat at 2:00 p.m. for fans to submit questions.
This season's Throwback Thursdays will be the sixth time the D-backs have worn a throwback jersey. The D-backs have also worn the 2001 Alternate Home jersey (2011), 1998-2002 Alternate Home Purple jersey (2012), 1999-2000 Alternate Black jersey (2013) and 1914 Kansas City Packers jersey to celebrate Wrigley Field's 100th anniversary (2014) and the Majestic 1999 Home White Uniform with the alternate New Era white cap (2014).
Fans are encouraged to wear the throwback purple and teal colors on Throwback Thursdays. The Chase Field Team Shop will offer a wide variety of items featuring the retro colors for fans to purchase throughout the season. D-backs Authentics, located at section 141, will offer an assortment of game-used Throwback items from previous seasons in which net proceeds will benefit the Arizona Diamondbacks Foundation.
In addition, fans can enter for a chance to win four tickets plus field passes to watch batting practice at a future Throwback Thursday game by sharing their throwback D-backs photos on Instagram or Twitter with #DbacksThrowback.
