D-backs to Host Military Appreciation Weekend

Festivities kick off this Friday with Fifth of July Celebration

PHOENIX - The Arizona Diamondbacks (@Dbacks) will honor military all weekend long with a 50 percent off ticket offer, with valid military ID, during the weekend series July 5-7 versus the Colorado Rockies at Chase Field. In addition, the D-backs will pay tribute to military service members in a special July 5th celebration that features a patriotic postgame fireworks spectacular, presented by Gila River Casinos.

The July 5th festivities include a D-backs Stars and Stripes T-shirt giveaway, courtesy of Ram Trucks, for 15,000 fans. Throughout the game, the D-backs will honor all military active duty, reserve, retired and veterans and military service members will participate in several in-game activities.

Prior to the game, 20 soldiers will enlist into the U.S. Army by taking their oath on the field. The team will also recognize all D-backs employees who have served in the military and guest service representatives will wear their respective hat to show which branch of the military they served in. In addition, the ceremonial first pitch will be thrown out by military service members from the past, present and future and the national anthem will be sung by U.S. Navy Petty Officer Steven Powell with color guard posted by Joint Forces.

During a special pregame ceremony, the D-backs will present U.S. Army Staff Sergeant Lucas Greenleaf with a key to his new house in Kingman, courtesy of Chase, Operation Homefront and the D-backs. Chase and Operation Homefront have provided Greenleaf with a house for his family, including five daughters, and the Arizona Diamondbacks Foundation will provide items of need. In addition, the D-backs will provide more than 1,700 tickets through the Commissioner's Initiative and MLB's Welcome Back Veterans to military service members and their families to enjoy the game on July 5.

The D-backs are currently auctioning off game-worn camouflage jerseys and hats from their Memorial Day game through July 12 with proceeds benefitting military charities through the Arizona Diamondbacks Foundation. Game-worn jerseys include Paul Goldschmidt, Patrick Corbin, Ian Kennedy and Gerardo Parra and are available online at www.dbacks.com/auctions.

The D-backs' military ticket offer for 50-percent off ticket prices is available to all military active duty, reserve, retired and veterans, as well as active and retired fire and police personnel with a valid ID. The offer is available at the Chase Field Box Office, by calling 602.514.8400 or online at www.dbacks.com/military
