Pompey homers twice for Double-A New Hampshire
Blue Jays' No. 2 prospect has 7 RBIs and is batting .417 in six games for Fisher Cats
Dalton Pompey looks like he'd like to get out of Double-A again.
The Blue Jays' No. 2 prospect (No. 37 overall) launched two homers in New Hampshire's 14-1 blowout of Altoona, less than a week after he homered in his first appearance for the Fisher Cats. It's only been six games, but Pompey is on a tear, hitting .417/.481/.917 with three dingers, a double, a triple and seven RBIs.
Contrast that with his numbers in the Majors -- .193/.264/.337 with two homers and six RBIs -- and at Triple-A Buffalo this season -- .209/.294/.253 with no homers and six RBIs -- and you can see why the team wanted Pompey to find his bearings at the plate.
Still just 22 years old, the center fielder was a 16th-round Draft pick in 2010. He made his Major League debut last year for the Jays, hitting .231/.302/.436 in 17 appearances.
