Red Sox slugger swats No. 37, a three-run blast in first off knuckleballer Dickey
TORONTO -- With his three-run blast in the top of the first inning against the Blue Jays on Wednesday night, David Ortiz passed Alex Rodriguez for the most homers by a visiting hitter at Rogers Centre.
Ortiz cracked his fourth of the series just shy of the Blue Jays' Level of Excellence above the second deck for his 37th career home run in Toronto, which came on a 3-1 count from knuckleballer R.A. Dickey.
Only at Fenway has Ortiz hit more homers over his 18 seasons. In Monday's series opener, Big Papi swatted a pair of dingers -- his 452nd and 453rd -- to tie and pass Hall of Famer Carl Yastrzemski for No. 36 on the all-time home run list.
The Red Sox designated hitter has 24 home runs and 72 RBIs this season. He's gone deep five times at Rogers Centre this year, tying his previous season highs for homers north of the border ('04, '05, '11).
