Delaware North Companies Sportservice & Rangers create new concessions

Among new offerings are two items named in honor of first baseman Mitch Moreland

BUFFALO, N.Y. and ARLINGTON, Texas (July 23, 2013) - The Texas Rangers and food, beverage and retail partner Delaware North Companies Sportservice this week announced three creative additions to the general concessions menus at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington.

In anticipation of National Hot Dog Day (July 23), the Sportservice culinary team created the Taco Dog, a Nolan Ryan all-beef hot dog - inside a crispy taco shell - topped with taco meat, shredded cheese, lettuce, sour cream and jalapenos, and then served in a toasted sausage roll. The Taco Dog is available beginning July 22 at Casa De Fuego, behind home plate.

Introduced July 19 at the 24 stand, also behind home plate, were The Mitchwich Wild and The Mitchwich Mild - both named as a tip-of-the-cap to Rangers first baseman Mitch Moreland.

The Mitchwich Wild features ground buffalo and elk with chorizo, bacon, jalapenos, back bean spread and fried onions, served on a sourdough bun with a side of potato chips. The Mitchwich Mild is an elk burger patty, topped with bacon, tomatoes, baby arugula and Colby jack cheese, served on a sourdough bun with a side of potato chips.

"I saw Mitch Moreland on a local news station, discussing his love for sandwiches and wild game," said Casey Rapp, operations manager at the ballpark for Sportservice, who is the mastermind behind several unique concessions items. "He wondered what he had to do to get a food item at the ballpark named after him, like what we did for Nelson Cruz, David Murphy, Adrian Beltre and Robbie Ross."

The Moreland-themed offerings join the likes of Sportservice's player-themed food items, including The Boomstick (Cruz), Murph-A-Dillas (Murphy), The Beltre Buster (Beltre) and the Totally ROSSome Nachos (Ross).
