Travis' heads-up play bails out Boyd

TORONTO -- Blue Jays starter Matt Boyd got a little help from his defense on Saturday afternoon at Rogers Centre.

With Toronto trailing, 4-0, in the sixth, nerves perhaps got the best of Boyd, who was making his Major League debut.

While fielding a comebacker, Boyd attempted to start a double play at second, but missed Jose Reyes with his throw.

Second baseman Devon Travis was there, however, to pick up his starter. Travis got the ball to Reyes for the 1-4-6 putout of Adrian Beltre, who misread the play when the ball was overthrown by Boyd and let up while running to second.
