Haren feeling rejuvenated after extra off-days

GLENDALE, Ariz. -- Two extra days' rest proved to be the difference for Dodgers starter Dan Haren.

On Tuesday, the right-hander allowed five hits and four runs in 4 2/3 innings against the Mariners in a Minor League game at Camelback Ranch. The veteran walked one batter and gave up two home runs, including one to catcher Jesus Montero, in the 75-pitch effort.

"It's really been a blessing to have these extra couple of days," Haren said. "I just had a little dead arm that I fought through and my body wasn't feeling that great. I just feel really good coming out of this."

Haren gave up one run on seven hits in four innings against the Royals in his previous Cactus League outing on March 11.

"I felt way better than last time. I gave up a few runs, but it was no big deal," Haren said. "I was working throwing a few front-door cutters and that's where three of the hits came on. I'm just really happy with how I feel."

Haren said he expects to throw 90 pitches on Monday and make one more start before the regular season.

"I counted the walks and the homers," Haren said. "I actually got Montero out a lot during the season, but it's not a big deal."
