Dodgers set for first game with new replay system

GLENDALE, Ariz. -- The Dodgers get their first game with the expanded instant-replay rules on Thursday when they play the Angels in Tempe.

The Dodgers have five Cactus League games in which replay will be used: March 11 vs. the Royals, March 12 vs. the D-backs, March 15 vs. the White Sox and March 16 vs. the Rockies.

The system will be in place for all three Freeway Series exhibition games against the Angels, but not in Australia for the two regular-season games in the Opening Series against the D-backs.

Manager Don Mattingly said video coordinator John Pratt will serve as the video specialist in the clubhouse in communication with the dugout for replay challenges on Thursday. The club has not named the person who will be in that role for the regular season.
