Dodgers' successful challenge can't hold off Bucs' rally

LOS ANGELES -- Don Mattingly successfully challenged a safe call by second-base umpire Eric Cooper on Starling Marte's seventh-inning steal attempt, but it wasn't enough for the Dodgers to ward off a Pirates rally at Dodger Stadium.

After a one-minute, 36-second review, the Replay Command Center at MLB.com headquarters in New York overturned the call, ruling second baseman Dee Gordon tagged Marte on the left hand before it reached the bag.

Marte was the first out of the inning, and likely would have scored when Clint Barmes followed with a single. The Pirates broke though anyway, however, as Barmes was sacrificed to second by pitcher Gerrit Cole before Josh Harrison's RBI single to center broke the 3-3 tie, with Harrison taking second on the throw home. Neil Walker then singled in Harrison, and Walker scored on Gaby Sanchez's double. All told the Pirates batted around and scored three runs to take a 6-3 lead.

The Dodgers are 8-3 on replay challenges, and have won eight of their past nine.
