Mattingly named to NL All-Star coaching staff

LOS ANGELES -- Dodgers manager Don Mattingly was selected as one of two additional managers of the National League staff for the 2015 All-Star Game.

As the defending World Series champion, Giants manager Bruce Bochy will lead the NL team. He selected Mattingly and Reds manager Bryan Price to be on his coaching staff for the July 14 game at Cincinnati's Great American Ball Park.

"I feel honored. I'm excited about it. It's close to home, so I would be there anyway," Mattingly said. "Everyone always asks if you'd like those days off, and everyone likes days off, but I think in an All-Star Game situation, you're just honored to be a part of it."

This is Mattingly's second appearance as a coach in the All-Star Game, as he was selected to join Joe Torre's staff for the 2004 All-Star Game.

"With Donnie growing up a Reds fan and Bryan being there, it's an honor for them," Bochy said.
