DraftKings picks: Harper, Span, McCann

Welcome to DraftKings fantasy baseball, the Official Daily Fantasy Game of Major League Baseball.

The players listed below could provide difference-making stats for DraftKings participants today.

Bryce Harper (Nationals): Harper has wielded a potent bat this season, with 15 homers, 38 RBIs and a .333 batting average through 41 games played. The outfielder could improve on his lifetime .911 OPS against right-handers (.726 vs. lefties) when he faces Phillies righty Sean O'Sullivan (career 1.54 WHIP).

:: Fred Zinkie's Daily Picks ::

Denard Span (Nationals): The outfielder could reach base often and score multiple runs when he hits out of his customary leadoff spot against O'Sullivan, who has a career 5.72 ERA. Span -- who swiped 31 bases last season -- could also steal a bag, as Phillies No. 1 catcher Carlos Ruiz sometimes struggles to control baserunners.

Brian McCann (Yankees): The catcher could improve on his career .828 OPS against right-handers (.750 vs. lefties) when he faces Rangers righty Colby Lewis (lifetime 4.75 ERA, 1.38 WHIP) at offense-inducing Yankee Stadium.

Didi Gregorius (Yankees): The shortstop could be an economical option for DraftKings participants when he brings his lifetime .711 OPS against right-handers (.490 vs. lefties) into a matchup with Lewis at a hitter-friendly venue. As a big leaguer, Lewis has allowed such left-handed hitters as Gregorius to compile an .826 OPS (.722 OPS allowed to righty hitters).

Seth Smith (Mariners): Smith has registered notably contrasting career splits, with an .837 OPS against right-handers that exceeds his .606 mark vs. lefties. The outfielder could drive in multiple runs when he leaves his pitcher-friendly home park to hit at offense-inducing Rogers Centre against righty Marco Estrada (lifetime 4.20 ERA).

Robinson Cano (Mariners): Cano could improve on his impressive lifetime .318/.365/.523 slash line against righties at the expense of Estrada (career 1.4 HR/9 rate). The second baseman has dealt with a notable power dip since relocating to Seattle prior to the 2014 season, but he could put a ball into the outfield seats at hitter-friendly Rogers Centre.

Adam LaRoche (White Sox): LaRoche could smack a homer on Friday, when he faces the Twins' fly-ball-prone righty Phil Hughes at hitter-friendly U.S. Cellular Field. The first baseman has registered a career .841 OPS against right-handers (.715 vs. lefties), and Hughes has a lifetime 1.2 HR/9 rate.

Conor Gillaspie (White Sox): Gillaspie has produced pronounced career splits, with a .762 OPS against right-handers that notably exceeds his .512 mark vs. lefties. He could provide DraftKings participants with a cost-effective third baseman when he faces Hughes, who has a career 4.34 ERA and a 4.76 mark this season.

Freddie Freeman (Braves): Having posted an .878 OPS against right-handers (.741 vs. lefties) and an .871 OPS at Turner Field (.797 on the road) during his big league tenure, the first baseman could reach base often in a home matchup against Brewers righty Wily Peralta (career 1.36 WHIP).

Carlos Gonzalez (Rockies): Gonzalez has a .299/.364/.544 slash line against righties and a 1.005 OPS at hitter-friendly Coors Field during his career. Thus he could have considerable success at the expense of Giants right-hander Ryan Vogelsong (career 1.40 WHIP), who will face the Rockies in Colorado.

Angel Pagan (Giants): Pagan could collect multiple hits or score runs from his premium lineup spot when he vacates pitcher-friendly AT&T Park to face righty Kyle Kendrick (lifetime 4.51 ERA, 1.37 WHIP) at offense-inducing Coors Field. The outfielder -- who is a career .295 hitter against righties -- could also swipe a base, as catcher Nick Hundley sometimes struggles to control opposing baserunners.

Brandon Belt (Giants): The first baseman could display his extra-base power when brings his lifetime .815 OPS against right-handers (.753 vs. lefties) into a matchup with Kendrick at a homer-happy venue. The righty hurler has struggled this season to the tune of a 6.70 ERA and a 1.51 WHIP. Belt could also benefit from putting the ball into play against a Rockies defense that ranks 28th in the Majors with a .663 defensive efficiency ratio.

Michael Pineda (Yankees): With a 3.31 ERA, a 1.10 WHIP and 55 strikeouts across 51 2/3 innings this season, the right-hander could be emerging as an ace. On Friday, when he faces a Rangers lineup that ranks 26th in the Majors with a .656 OPS against righties, Pineda could be a difference-maker for DraftKings participants. And with Lewis toeing the rubber for Texas, Pineda has a good chance to emerge from this contest with a victory.

Gerrit Cole (Pirates): Having compiled a 2.40 ERA and 53 strikeouts across 48 2/3 innings this season, the right-hander seems to be realizing his immense potential. He could continue to dominate the competition when he faces a Mets lineup that ranks 29th in the Majors with a .628 OPS against right-handers.

Max Scherzer (Nationals): Scherzer -- who has compiled a 1.75 ERA and a 0.92 WHIP in 2015 -- could continue to dominate the Senior Circuit when he faces a Phillies lineup that ranks last in baseball with 3.2 runs per game. He could turn a quality outing into a win if his teammates score several runs against O'Sullivan.

Ubaldo Jimenez (Orioles): Jimenez has reemerged as a productive starter by posting a 2.43 ERA, a 1.03 WHIP and 38 strikeouts across 40 2/3 innings this season. He could thrive when he leaves hitter-friendly Camden Yards to work at spacious Marlins Park against a Marlins lineup that ranks 25th in the Majors with a .659 OPS against right-handers.

Zack Greinke (Dodgers): Since joining the Dodgers at the outset of the 2013 season, Greinke has compiled a 2.53 ERA overall and a 2.37 mark at his pitcher-friendly home park. He could continue to dominate at his home venue when he faces a Padres lineup that possesses several key members who have traditionally fared best against lefties.

All statistics are accurate through the completion of Wednesday's games.
