Hernandez activated from disabled list

SAN FRANCISCO -- The Dodgers reinstated utility man Kiké Hernandez to the active roster from the 15-day disabled list on Monday for the opener of their series with the Giants.

Hernandez was disabled Aug. 31 with a strained left hamstring. At the time, he had assumed most of the starting time in center field from struggling fellow rookie Joc Pederson.

Hernandez is hitting .308 with six homers and 21 RBIs in 71 games, appearing in games at second base, third base, shortstop, left field, center field and right field. The 24-year-old has a .353 batting average with runners in scoring position and had been one of the Dodgers' hottest hitters prior to his injury, posting a .382/.427/.566 slashline in 26 games.
