Jimmy LaFave and Emily Elbert to Perform at Eric Nadel's Fourth Annual Birthday Concert Benefiting Focus on Teens

On Thursday, April 30, Texas music legend Jimmy LaFave and North Texas-born songstress Emily Elbert will come together for Texas Rangers announcer Eric Nadel's Fourth Annual birthday benefit concert. Handpicked by Eric Nadel, Jimmy and Emily are two Texas originals who will provide an unforgettable night to raise money and awareness a local charity serving homeless young people in our community. Dallas's historic Kessler Theater will host the event starting at 8 p.m., with doors opening to the public at 7 p.m.

The concert will be Jimmy LaFave's first-ever first headlining gig at the Kessler. Born in Wills Point, Jimmy has been a Dallas favorite since his 1992 CD Austin Skyline featuring his classic rendition of "Walk Away Renee." He has since delivered a long line of unforgettable originals and covers. He has recorded 15 albums and his 2007 release,Cimarron Manifesto, reached the No. 1 mark on the Americana Music Association album chart.

Emily Elbert was the first performer to take the Kessler stage when it opened as a concert venue five years ago. A graduate of Coppell High School and the Berklee School of Music, the nomadic songstress has journeyed solo around the world, playing close to 1,000 shows from Peru to Palestine. These diverse experiences are reflected in her musical style, an uplifting blend drawing inspiration from the depths of soul, folk, funk, and bossa nova.

In addition to the concert, the event will feature a silent auction with a variety of packages including the opportunity to sit with Eric Nadel as he announces a Texas Rangers game, a signed photo of the Rangers' 2010 American League pennant-clinching moment with Eric's handwritten score sheet, and autographed items from some of baseball's biggest stars. Before the concert begins, event sponsors will have the opportunity to mingle with Eric and the artists at a VIP party in the Kessler's private lounge.

In its fourth year, the concert will host 400 attendees and benefit Dallas nonprofit organization Focus on Teens. "I am so excited to put on this show for Focus on Teens, an incredibly valuable organization that is still in its initial stages, and delighted about the line-up we have put together," Nadel said. "I have been trying to get Jimmy to do this concert since the very first show, and finally the date worked out well with his schedule. I fell in love with Emily when she was still a teenager performing at the Kessler in my first visit ever to the theater. The combination of the two will provide an incredible evening of music in my favorite concert venue."

Tickets for the event are now on sale at thekessler.com. Tickets are available starting at $20. A limited number of sponsorship packages are also available starting at $1,000. All proceeds from the concert will benefit Focus on Teens, and a portion of all tickets and packages is tax-deductible.

A birthday concert after-party will be held at Vagabond, 3619 Greenville Avenue in Dallas, with local country favorite Troy Cartwright performing. Admission will be free of charge.
