Milwaukee Brewers Host 10th Annual PLAY BALL Weekend
More than 700 youth from across Wisconsin gathered in Milwaukee to celebrate baseball and softball during Major League Baseball’s PLAY BALL Weekend.
Hosted alongside Brewers alumni, the Famous Racing Sausages® and Journey House, the event aimed to inspire youth to stay active through baseball and softball, build connections and grow their love for the game.
Part of a league-wide initiative including all 30 MLB teams, PLAY BALL Weekend highlights baseball and softball as a fun, accessible way to promote physical activity and community engagement. In Milwaukee, the 10th annual PLAY BALL clinic took place at Baran Park, emphasizing the value of free, public spaces to bring people together.
Participants rotated through interactive skill stations led by Brewers alumni Jerry Augustine, Bill Castro, Jim Gantner and Vinny Rottino. Milwaukee County Executive David Crowley also attended, underscoring the importance of hosting inclusive events in county parks. Kids took part in activities such as a home run derby, agility drills, fielding practice and base running. Each participant received a t-shirt, bat-and-ball set to take home and lunch.
“We are beyond excited to see the community gathering for a day full of physical activity, fun, and of course, baseball,” said Brewers Vice President of Community Relations, Katina Shaw. “PLAY BALL is a shared commitment to encouraging young people to participate in a sport that unites everyone.”
Held annually across all MLB markets, the Brewers PLAY BALL Weekend continues to provide a free, welcoming opportunity for young athletes in the Milwaukee area to learn, play and connect through the game.
