On Saturday morning, just 5 days before Opening Day, over 6,000 fans showed up to the ballpark on a beautiful spring morning to participate in a 3.1 mile run to support Phillies Charities.
The 16th annual Phillies Charities 5K presented by Fox Chase Cancer Center saw participants race around the course, greeted by Phillies alumni Dickie Noles and Milt Thompson, and led by the Phanatic and his ATV.
As the race—which raises funds for Phillies Charities, Inc.—concluded, runners were given medals by the Phillies Ballgirls and enjoyed a cooldown lap on the field at Citizens Bank Park. Matt Gillette, 34, from Allentown, Pa., was the top finisher at 15:05. Whitney Heydenreich, 38, all the way from Danville, Pa., was the women’s top finisher at 18:27.
Congratulations to all of the day’s runners!
