Lindor, Wendle erupt at plate for Double-A Akron

Shortstop Francisco Lindor and second baseman Joe Wendle, the Indians' Nos. 1 and 10 prospects, combined for seven hits, four runs and four RBIs on Tuesday to lead Double-A Akron to a 15-10 victory at Reading.

Lindor, ranked No. 9 on MLBPipeline.com's Top 100 Prospects list, went 3-for-6 with three runs and an RBI. Hitting behind Lindor in the RubberDucks lineup, Wendle finished the night 4-for-6 with a double, a triple, a run, three RBIs and a stolen base.

Despite being the youngest player in the Eastern League on Opening Day, Lindor has been a model of consistency this season. The 20-year-old hit .281 in 23 games April, .278 in 28 games in May and .283 through 15 games in June. Overall, he is hitting .280 with a .744 on-base plus slugging and 19 stolen bases.

Wendle, who is four years older than Lindor, started slowly this season. But he has heated up with the weather and now has six multi-hit games this month. He is hitting .265 with a .745 OPS and six home runs this season.

While the RubberDucks pounded out 16 hits on Tuesday, it was just the fifth hitless game since the beginning of May for center fielder Tyler Naquin. The Indians' No. 4 prospect walked twice and scored two runs, but went 0-for-4, snapping his 17-game hitting streak. During the streak, which began May 29, he hit .431 with a 1.079 OPS.

Naquin is hitting .320 this season with an .817 OPS and 14 stolen bases. Among qualified players, he leads the RubberDucks in hitting, on-base percentage (.375) and slugging percentage (.442).
