Garcia expected to rest two more weeks
VIERA, Fla. -- Nationals right-hander Christian Garcia is expected to rest two more weeks because of a sore flexor tendon in his right forearm. Garcia, who will start the season on the disabled list, went to Baltimore to see a hand specialist this past weekend and the doctor told Garcia that the tendon is a lot better.
"The swelling is almost all out," said Garcia. "[The doctor] said the MRI looks a lot better. It was a huge improvement from the first one. So that's good."
Once he is healthy, Garcia, the Nats' No. 15 prospect, said he doesn't care if he is a starter or reliever.
"Whichever helps me get back to the big leagues, that's going to help me get there the fastest," Garcia said.
