Giants agree with Draft picks Shaw, Miller

SAN FRANCISCO -- First-round Draft pick Chris Shaw and third-rounder Jalen Miller agreed to terms with the San Francisco Giants on Tuesday.

The club has not confirmed agreements with either player.

Shaw, the 31st overall pick in the 2015 Draft, batted .319 with 11 home runs and 43 RBIs as the first baseman for the Boston College Eagles this season. His contract is worth $1.4 million.

Shaw packs a ton of strength in his 6-foot-3, 248-pound frame and can hit for above-average power to all fields, according to MLB Pipeline.

Miller, the 95th overall pick, played shortstop for Riverwood International Charter School in Atlanta, Ga.

Miller, whose contract is worth $1.1 million (nearly double slot value), has drawn several comparisons to Cincinnati Reds second baseman Brandon Phillips, who also played his high school ball in Georgia.

According to MLB Pipeline, the prospect "could generate 15-homer power thanks to his strong wrists" and demonstrates "good instincts in all phases of the game."
