Dunning weathers missed DP to get save

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. -- The Giants spent Tuesday morning working extra on converting double plays. They proceeded to demonstrate why they needed practice.

San Francisco courted trouble in the ninth inning of their 3-2 exhibition victory over Colorado when first baseman Angel Villalona couldn't hold on to second baseman Nick Noonan's low throw that could have resulted in a game-ending double play.

But reliever Jake Dunning coaxed Cristhian Adames' harmless grounder to first to strand runners on the corners. Manager Bruce Bochy credited Dunning for weathering adversity.

"You try to look at positives, I guess, when you don't turn a double play," Bochy said. "The pitcher has to get some experience getting out of a jam with the game on the line."
