Lincecum passionate about Pacific Northwest

Tim Lincecum
Hometown: Seattle

More than anyone else in the Giants' clubhouse, Tim Lincecum displays his roots. While many of his teammates wear plain clothing, the Washington state native proudly wears gear of Seattle professional teams before and after Giants games.

After all, he had quite the childhood in the area and still resides there in the offseason.

He graduated from Liberty High School in Renton, Wash., where he led his team to a state title and was named Washington's Gatorade Player of the Year. In addition to baseball, he was the point guard on the basketball team and played both quarterback and cornerback on the football team his freshman and sophomore years.

He stayed in-state for college by attending the University of Washington and was tabbed the nation's second-best amateur prospect by Baseball America in 2006.

Ryan Hood is an associate reporter for MLB.com.
