Gordon, Davis get Player, Pitcher of Month awards

KANSAS CITY -- Alex Gordon was named the Royals Player of the Month and Wade Davis was picked as Pitcher of the Month for August.

Gordon had nine home runs, 16 RBIs, 21 runs and a .292 average. He also had his second career walk-off home run on Aug. 26 against the Twins.

This is the 12th time in his career and the second time this year that Gordon has won the award.

Davis pitched 14 scoreless innings in August with 19 strikeouts and just one walk. He also won the award in May and July.
