KANSAS CITY -- The World Series celebration continues and this time it'll light up Kansas City's famous Country Club Plaza with the traditional holiday lights.

Kansas City Power & Light has selected Royals left fielder Alex Gordon to flip the switch that will turn on the thousands of colorful lights in the 85th Plaza lighting ceremony. He'll be assisted by his family and general manager Dayton Moore and his family.

The ceremony will be on Thanksgiving, Thursday, Nov. 27, between 6 and 7 p.m. CT on the main stage on Nichols Road and Pennsylvania near Brio Tuscan Grille.

The event also features entertainment starting at 5 p.m. CT, fireworks and a concert featuring The Mowgli's at 7 p.m. CT.

"Coming off a storybook playoff run, Alex Gordon and his teammates filled the entire city with pride and joy, making Alex a fitting guest for the Plaza Lighting Ceremony," said Glenn Stephenson, vice president of Highwoods Properties, owner of the Plaza which was developed in 1922.
