HOUSTON, TX – The Houston Astros, Chevrolet and the Houston area Chevy dealers are celebrating the Astros 50th anniversary with several activities that give fans a fun and up-close experience with Astros baseball. The activities taking place during the 2012 season include numerous player autograph signings at Houston Area Chevy Dealerships, a Chevy Youth Base Stealer at each home game and Chevrolet is sponsoring two youth baseball clinics at Minute Maid Park during the month of April.
“Chevrolet has been a long-time supporter of baseball at all levels and they have been a proud partner of the Astros for many years,” said Rosi Hernandez, vice president, corporate partnerships. “We are dedicated to providing our fans with great baseball experiences and we are grateful that Chevrolet is working with us to offer exciting fan activities this season.”
“From back yards to the big leagues, Chevrolet is committed to community where our customers live, work and play,” said Steve Flynn, regional Chevrolet marketing manager. “There is nothing more American than Chevrolet and baseball and we want to celebrate with the Astros during their 50th anniversary season by giving fans multiple opportunities to interact with their favorite team.”

Chevy Youth Base Stealer
During every Astros home game, one young fan will “steal” third base while the grounds crew conducts field maintenance during the fifth inning. Participants will be selected through Chevrolet dealer promotions. Some children will be chosen at random from among children in attendance at Astros games. Each participating child gets to keep third base.
Chevrolet and Youth Baseball
April 14-15, Chevrolet will host the Chevrolet Youth Baseball Clinics at Minute Maid Park. Each clinic features two hours of baseball instruction and includes lunch for over 400 kids. Participants will also gain additional baseball insight through a question and answer session with a former Astros player.
For the past four years, the Houston Area Chevy Dealers have partnered with local youth leagues donating $400,000 in and around the Houston area in the form of check donations, equipment and fundraiser opportunities for boys and girls to play baseball.
