In Minor League deal, Sox swap Williams for Tracy

Outfielder a son of Chicago's former general manager

CHICAGO -- The first official trade in the era of Rick Hahn as general manager involved one of the sons of the team's former GM.

Switch-hitting outfielder Ken Williams Jr. was traded to the Rockies in exchange for first baseman/outfielder Mark Tracy, the White Sox announced on Thursday night. The elder Williams ran the team with great success for 12 years before being promoted to executive vice president last Friday. Tracy is the son of former Rockies manager Jim Tracy.

Williams was a sixth-round selection in the 2008 First-Year Player Draft and produced a .233 average over five Minor League seasons. He batted .250 with 18 doubles and 30 RBIs in 2012 while playing for Double-A Birmingham.

Tracy, who was born in Arlington Heights, Ill., in 1988, hit .244 over three seasons in the Rockies system. The right-handed hitter posted a .264 average for Class A Advanced Modesto last season.
