Inbox: Parra a good fit with O's moving forward?

Beat reporter Brittany Ghiroli answers questions from fans

Do you feel the Orioles will pursue a corner outfielder in the offseason, or perhaps re-sign Gerardo Parra and go with someone from within the system for left field?
-- Mike, Baltimore

I think Baltimore will make a push to keep Parra -- who has been a solid addition -- beyond this season, and the Orioles will also look elsewhere on the free-agent market. You can certainly make the case that even if they sign Parra, they'll be looking to add another corner-outfield option. Yes, Dariel Alvarez is with the big league team, but you saw this season the danger in relying too much on guys who have yet to really prove themselves at the Major League level. Alvarez is certainly on the organization's radar, but knowing manager Buck Showalter, he will still have to prove himself next spring.

I like Parra, who can also back up center field, as a player and think he's fit in quite nicely in the clubhouse. But how much will he cost? It's an offseason with a lot of big decisions to make, and it will be fascinating to see where the O's allocate their resources.

How would you rank the Orioles' players entering free agency based on the organization's need to pursue those players?
-- Stephen, Asheville, N.C.

From a pure team-need standpoint and not taking into account financials, I'd rank it like so: Chris Davis, Wei-Yin Chen, Parra, Darren O'Day, Matt Wieters, Steve Pearce. Obviously, there's much more to it, but there will be plenty of time to expound and dissect those six free agents.

With the Triple-A Norfolk Tides currently in the playoffs and Tyler Wilson in the rotation, do you see any chance of Wilson being called up to the Orioles in the final games this season?
-- Bryan, Albany, N.Y.

I do. Wilson is probably the only guy not currently in the Orioles' rotation who could make a start for them before the campaign ends, though probably not until Norfolk is done. Like rookie Mike Wright, Wilson has handled himself well at the big league level, and the more experience the O's can expose a guy like Wilson to, the better.

Video: Top Prospects: Dylan Bundy, RHP, Orioles

Can you give us an update on Dylan Bundy? What are the chances we'll see him pitch at Camden Yards in 2016?
-- Mark, Jacksonville, Fla.

Bundy, who was recently cleared to begin a throwing program, will be built back up to pitch in this fall's instructional league, if everything goes according to plan. Beyond that, there's a lot of secrecy around Bundy's future, with Showalter saying Wednesday that there's a "Plan A and a Plan B" for the young right-hander.

Obviously, Plan B is if there's any kind of health setback, which -- at this point -- would really put Bundy and the Orioles in a bind. I can't handicap whether he makes the club next year, as he hasn't pitched in a Minor League game since May and I haven't personally seen him throw since Spring Training. I can say that he will be given every opportunity in the organization, though. He's out of Minor League options, meaning if Bundy does not make the Opening Day roster, the O's risk losing him on waivers.

Is Miguel Gonzalez going to pitch again this year? Will he be back with the Major League team next year? Or will he be elsewhere?
-- Jeremy, Longmont, Col.

The hope is Gonzalez makes at least one more start this season, with the righty planning on starting to throw again next week. He won't return from the disabled list right when he's eligible, but the Orioles hope it won't be too long after. Yes, Gonzalez is under team control for next year.
