Hot dog! Indians cutting many concession prices

GOODYEAR, Ariz. -- The Indians have enjoyed a recent boom at the box office and the ballclub wants to make sure fans pouring into Progressive Field this season enjoy their experience. Part of that process is making a trip to a ballgame more affordable.

On Thursday, the Indians announced a series of price reductions on top-selling concessions items for the upcoming season.

"We've asked our fans what they want most in their ballpark experience at Progressive Field," Indians president Mark Shapiro said in a news release, "and more affordable concessions prices routinely top the list. This is a way for us to let fans know we're listening to them and that we value them."

The Tribe already announced plans to bring back its popular Sugardale-sponsored Dollar Dog Nights for 15 home games this season. Beyond those promotional dates, hot dogs will now have a starting price of $3 for all Indians home games.

The price of a 12-ounce draft beer has been reduced to $4. That cost will be in effect for all draft and canned domestic beer located throughout Progressive Field, and also at "Your Dad's Beer Stand," which features several nostalgic beers.

Beyond beers and dogs, prices have been dropped up to 25 percent for nachos, pretzels, popcorn, pizza and bratwursts. The cost of a soda refill has been slashed to $2, as well.

The Indians announced earlier this week that single-game ticket sales are up more than 40 percent from last year and nearly double the 2011 totals. Cleveland's April 8 home opener against the Yankees sold out in six minutes, according to the team.
