Interleague series against Detroit Tigers starts tomorrow

LOS ANGELES - The Dodgers' first homestand of the 2014 season concludes with a two-game series against the AL Central-leading Detroit Tigers, starting tomorrow at 7:10 p.m. All auto gates and left-field, left pavilion and club level gates open at 5:10 p.m. and all stadium gates open at 5:40 p.m. The Dodgers take on the Tigers again at 7:10 p.m. on Wednesday, April 9. All auto gates open at 5:10 p.m. and all stadium gates open at 5:40 p.m. The Dodgers' clubhouse will open to media at 3:30 p.m. for all 7:10 p.m. games this season. Tomorrow's game is sold out.

The first 40,000 fans in attendance tomorrow will receive a zip-up hooded sweatshirt presented by Time Warner Cable, available in size medium or extra large. LA native and legendary west coast rap and hip hop artist Ice Cube will throw the ceremonial first pitch. Ice Cube will also announce the Dodgers' starting lineup. The national anthem will be performed by "American Idol" season 12 and top 16 finalist Antonella Barba. Of note for Dodger fans, longtime Dodger PA announcer Eric Smith returns tomorrow and Dodger Alumni League member Billy Ashley will sign autographs in the right-field pavilion plaza and Alumni Leaguer Lee Lacy will sign autographs in the left-field pavilion plaza from 5:10 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. A DJ will also provide musical entertainment in the right-field pavilion plaza and face painters, caricature artist and a balloon maker will be in the right and left-field pavilion plaza.

The Veteran of the Game is U.S. Army Staff Sergeant Iriz Meza of Baldwin Park. Meza enlisted in 1999 and completed Combat Medic training. As a Combat Medic, her responsibilities include training medics in clinical work, field-care, self-care, rapid trauma assessments and medical evacuations. Meza now serves with the Bell National Guard at the 6252 Army Hospital. Her accolades include an Army Commendation Medal and the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal.

On Wednesday, the Dodgers take on the Tigers in the final contest of a two-game series at 7:10 p.m. All auto gates and left-field, left pavilion and club level gates open at 5:10 p.m. and all stadium gates open at 5:40 p.m. Brazilian race car driver and three-time INDY 500 winner Helio Castroneves will throw the ceremonial first pitch. Castroneves returns for his 15th season with Team Penske in 2014 driving the No. 3 Shell-V-Power Pennzoil-Ultra, Hitachi, and AAA/Automobile Club of Southern California Indy car. The national anthem will be performed by Broadway, film and TV actress and R&B singer Antonique Smith.

As part of a Dodger partnership, all fans at each entrance gate will receive a coupon to Universal Studios Hollywood and a Minion paper fan. The Minions of "Despicable Me" will also throw the first pitch. Dodger Alumni League member Tim Leary will sign autographs in the right-field pavilion plaza and Alumni Leaguer Kenny Landreaux will sign autographs in the left-field pavilion plaza from 5:10 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. tomorrow. A DJ will also provide musical entertainment in the right field pavilion plaza.

The Veteran of the Game is U.S. Air Force Lieutenant Colonel Chris Dougherty of New York, New York. Dougherty was commissioned in 1996 upon his graduation from the United States Air Force Academy. He is an Air Force pilot who has served all over the world and flown more than 1,200 combat airlift missions in Iraq and Afghanistan in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom. Dougherty currently serves with the Air National Guard's 115th Airlift Squadron as its Operation Officer and will be leaving on deployment to the Middle East later this month. His accolades include a Combat Action Medal and a Meritorious Service Medal.
