Jansen throws one scoreless inning for Rancho

Dodgers closer expected to make about six rehab appearances

LOS ANGELES -- Dodgers closer Kenley Jansen had his first game action of the season Friday night, throwing one scoreless inning in a Minor League rehab assignment for Class A Advanced Rancho Cucamonga.

Jansen, on the disabled list after having surgery six weeks ago for a growth on the fifth metatarsal bone in his left foot, had a 14-pitch scoreless first inning. Jansen struck out one, allowed a single and stolen base, but escaped on a line drive double play.

Jansen then went to the bullpen for about 10 extra throws.

Manager Don Mattingly said Jansen will make roughly six rehab appearances before being activated, with a targeted return of mid-May.
