Mendoza to continue on ESPN broadcasts
Former Olympic softball medalist will work remainder of Sunday night games
Jessica Mendoza has already made history in the broadcast booth. Now she'll make more regular appearances.
Mendoza, a former United States softball Olympic gold and silver medalist, became the first woman to work a Major League Baseball game for ESPN in a Monday night D-backs-Cardinals game two weeks ago, and she followed it up with a Sunday Night Baseball debut last week that just happened to feature a no-hitter by Cubs pitcher Jake Arrieta.
ESPN announced on Friday that Mendoza will replace Curt Schilling in the booth alongside Dan Shulman and John Kruk for the remainder of network's Sunday Night Baseball broadcasts this season.
Schilling was recently removed from ESPN broadcasts for the regular season and the network's Oct. 6 American League Wild Card Game because of controversial material the former pitcher posted on his Twitter account.
