Gallo smashes two solo homers for Express

Rangers top prospect's performance is lone bright spot in Triple-A Round Rock's loss

Joey Gallo has been hovering around the Mendoza line since being demoted to Triple-A Round Rock on July 1, but the Rangers' No. 1 prospect has not been lacking power.

Baseball's No. 8 overall prospect, Gallo went 2-for-3 with a walk and two solo homers in the Express' 10-3 loss to Omaha. That gives him a total of 20 roundtrippers and 60 RBIs across three levels -- including the big leagues -- this year. While he's hitting just .194 for Round Rock, he's hit seven homers and recorded 16 RBIs in 25 games.

Drafted No. 39 overall by Texas in 2012, Gallo has already crushed 120 taters in his four-year pro career, averaging 54.7 per 162 games. He provided some decent offense for the Rangers in June, but was sent down and made his Triple-A debut after hitting .218/.306/.448 in 25 games Arlington.
