Join us Saturday when the Tigers honor past and present Hispanic players

Tigers to honor 1984 World Series Champion Juan Berenguer and wear special alternate jerseys as part of ¡Fiesta Tigres! celebration

The Tigers will host the eighth annual ¡Fiesta Tigres! Celebration, sponsored by Miller Lite, to recognize and honor the contributions of Hispanic and Latino players to the game of baseball on Saturday, August 3 as the Tigers take on the Chicago White Sox at 7:08 pm. Gates open early at 5:00 pm. Current Tigers players with Hispanic or Latino heritage will be honored as part of the ¡Fiesta Tigres! celebration. In addition, the club will also honor 1984 World Series Champion, Juan Berenguer in a special pre-game on-field ceremony.

McDonald's is teaming up with the Hispanic Heritage Baseball Museum Hall of Fame to celebrate the contributions of Hispanic and Latino players to the game baseball. As part of the 2013 program, 1984 World Series Champion, Juan Berenguer will be inducted into the Hispanic Heritage Baseball Museum Hall of Fame before Saturday night's game.

Berenguer will also be the featured guest at the ¡Fiesta Tigres! Luncheon, hosted by Miller Lite on Friday, August 2 at the Tiger Club at Comerica Park. Leaders from the Detroit Latino community will be in attendance at the luncheon to participate in a special Q&A with Berenguer and learn more about his time playing baseball in Detroit.

New to ¡Fiesta Tigres!, Detroit Tigers uniformed personnel will wear a special alternate uniform with the Spanish translation for "Tigers" on the chest. It will mark the first time since 1960 that the club has worn anything other than the Olde English D on their home uniform. Replica jerseys will be sold exclusively at The D Shop and feature Alex Avila, Miguel Cabrera, Victor Martinez, Anibal Sanchez and Justin Verlander. Limited quantities available.

For the second year in a row, McDonald's will host a youth baseball clinic for 100 children at Clark Park in Southwest Detroit on Friday, August 2. McDonald's has chosen the Detroit Tigers to help expand baseball programs and promote pride in the heritage of Hispanic baseball. Tigers catcher Brayan Peña, along with coaches Rafael Belliard and Mike Rojas, and Tigers Strength and Conditioning Coordinator Javair Gillett are all scheduled to participate in the clinic. McDonald's will host the children and their families from the clinic at Saturday's game, and a select group of clinic participants will have the opportunity to watch batting practice from the field and participate in the ¡Fiesta Tigres! pregame ceremony.  

¡Fiesta Tigres! will feature folkloric dance group Moyocoyani Izel and musical acts Mariachi Cora, Orchestra Sensacional, Tabcat Detroit, Los Primos, Sin Hielo and Mariachi Juvenil along with DJ Rob-Play NYC spinning a variety of Latino music. The first 10,000 fans 21-and-over will receive a ¡Fiesta Tigres! Player Banner, courtesy of Miller Lite.
