Donaldson, Martin pacing Blue Jays on ASG ballot

TORONTO -- The Blue Jays have five players among the leaders in the 2015 Esurance MLB All-Star Game Balloting for the upcoming All-Star Game at Great American Ball Park in Cincinnati, but they'll need a little bit of help to get a starting spot on the team.

Third baseman Josh Donaldson is the top-ranked Blue Jays player after he finished second in the first update of fan voting. He finished with 876,586 votes and trails Kansas City's Mike Moustakas (1,261,769).

Russell Martin, Jose Reyes and Jose Bautista find themselves in similar situations as all three players are trailing a Royals player after the initial results were revealed on Tuesday afternoon.

Martin is currently ranked third at catcher with Kansas City's Salvador Perez in the lead. Reyes is fourth at shortstop with 217,417 votes, but already has a lot of ground to make up vs. Kansas City's Alcides Escobar (1,191,268). Bautista is eighth with Lorenzo Cain, Mike Trout and Alex Gordon in the top three spots.

Rookie second baseman Devon Travis also remains in the mix. He's currently in the fourth spot with 320,572 votes. but trails Houston's Jose Altuve, who received 1,301,754 votes.

Fans can cast their votes for starters at MLB.com and all 30 club sites -- on their computers, tablets and smartphones -- using the 2015 Esurance MLB All-Star Game Ballot until Thursday, July 2, at 11:59 p.m. ET. For the first time, voting is exclusively online, where fans may submit up to 35 ballots.
