Royals Minor League report: July 1

NW Arkansas Naturals (7-5 second half, 32-50 overall)

Northwest Arkansas dropped the rubber game as Frisco plated three in the first and led wire to wire. Brooks allowed five runs and eight hits over five innings. Fields finished a triple shy of the cycle, with three RBIs. He hit his league-leading 21st home run in the sixth. Brian Fletcher added two hits and two runs.

Wilmington Blue Rocks (6-4 second half, 39-41 overall)

Wilmington 7, Frederick 5 (11 innings)

HR: Jared Schlehuber (5), Lane Adams (6)

Tyler Chism singled home Ethan Chapman in the 11th, then scored an insurance run as Wilmington won the opener at Frederick. Schlehuber hit a two-run homer in the first and finished with three hits and three RBIs. Adams posted three hits, including a solo homer, his fourth roundtripper in seven games. Kyle Smith allowed three runs (two earned) over 5 2/3 innings. Triggs tossed two scoreless innings for the win.

Lexington Legends (6-5 second half, 39-40 overall)

Greenville at Lexington -- postponed due to rain

Lexington's opener vs. Greenville was postponed due to rain. A doubleheader is scheduled for tonight, with Game 1 starting at 5 p.m.

Idaho Falls Chukars (3-9)

Idaho Falls lost a duel against Ogden, with each starter yielding just one run over six innings. Luke Farrell fanned seven and scattered three hits without a walk over his six stanzas. Cory Stubbs tripled to open the second and scored on a Frank Schwindel single.

Burlington Royals (5-7)

Greeneville 8, Burlington 1 (Game 2 -- seven innings)

Burlington has dropped seven straight after opening the year with five wins. Santos (four hits on five run in six innings) lost Game 1. Greeneville opened an 8-1 lead in Game 2 with six runs in the fourth. Sam Bates was a combined 3-for-6, boosting his season average to .308 (8-for-26).
