Royals Minor League Report: July 22

Omaha Storm Chasers (54-44)

Omaha 5, Oklahoma City 4
WP: Miguel Almonte (1-0 w/ Omaha, 4-4 w/ NW Ark.)
HR: None

Omaha took their third win over Oklahoma City in less then 24 hours, moving to within seven games of the division-leading Dodgers. Balbino Fuenmayor went 2-for-4 on the night and picked up an RBI. His 25 hits rank second most in the Pacific Coast League since his first Triple-A game on July 4. Matt Murray and Scott Alexander combined for three shutout innings to close out the win for Omaha.

NW Arkansas Naturals (49-46)

Northwest Arkansas 6, Tulsa 4
WP: Christian Binford (4-4)
SV: Sam Selman (2)
HR: Raul Mondesi (5)

The Naturals recorded 11 hits to help defeat Tulsa 6-4 on Wednesday night. Royals top propect, Raul Mondesi, homered and drove in two runs for Nortwest Arkansas. Frank Schwindel went 3-for-4 with three runs scored and Parker Morin went 2-for-4 with two RBI. Christian Binford tossed seven innings, allowed seven hits, and gave up only three earned runs to pick up the win on the night.

Wilmington Blue Rocks (51-45)

Wilmington 6, Salem 5
WP: Ashton Goudeau (5-2)
SV: Estarlin Cordero (7)
HR: Robert Pehl (3)

The Blue Rocks took the first game between the two teams in the second-half 6-5. Mauricio Ramos led the Wilmington offense with three hits and two RBI. Since the All-Star break he is batting .400 through 23 games, including four home runs, eight doubles and 24 RBI. He is the current team leader in total home runs (6), doubles (44), RBI (44), and runs (42).

Lexington Legends (42-51)

Lexington 11, Rome 1
WP: Pedro Fernandez (6-1)
HR: Corey Toups (6), Wander Franco (7)

The Legends offense exploded for 11 runs to take the win over Rome on Wednesday afternoon. Samir Duenez had three hits and two RBI for Lexington, while Corey Toups and Wander Franco each collected home runs. Pedro Fernandez allowed one unearned run in six and two-thirds innings, allowing only two hits.

Burlington Royals (14-15)

Burlington 5, Bristol 2
WP: Andre Davis (2-0)
SV: Christian Flecha (1)
HR: Austin Bailey (3)

The Royals scored four runs in the first inning and cruised to a 5-2 win over the Bristol Pirates. Austin Bailey went 3-for-5 on the night and was only a triple shy of the cycle. Brandon Dulin, Ben Johnson, and Luis Villegas each collected two hits for Burlington. First-round pick Ashe Russel went 3.0 innings and allowed one earned run.

Surprise Royals (16-5)

Suprise 6, AZL Giants 5 (10 innings)
WP: Gabriel Cramer (1-0)
HR: LeLand Clemmons (2)

Surprise won in extra inning fashion on Wednesday, picking up a run in the bottom of the tenth inning to beat the Giants 6-5. LeLand Clemmons went 4-for-5 with a home run, while Jonathan McCray and Yeison Melo each collected two hits for the Royals.
