Herrera has suspension reduced to 6 games

KANSAS CITY -- The Royals received notice just prior to the rain-delayed game Thursday with the Indians that reliever Kelvin Herrera's seven-game suspension had been reduced to six games.

Herrera began serving that suspension Thursday.

The Royals were told that the five-game suspension that Herrera appealed held. The two-game suspension Herrera appealed was reduced to one.

Herrera received a five-game suspension for throwing a pitch behind Oakland's Brett Lawrie on April 19. He received a two-game suspension for his part in an altercation with the White Sox on April 23.
