Kyle Schwarber surprises local veterans with Old City visit and on-field meet & greet

Before Wednesday’s game against the Washington Nationals, Kyle Schwarber continued the mission of Schwarber’s Neighborhood Heroes by making a surprise visit to the Veterans Multi-Service Center in Old City, Philadelphia. The organization provides much-needed services, including housing support, job training, meals and more to local veterans. Schwarber provided lunch and met with members and staff at the center, signing autographs and exchanging stories. He also took a ride on the facility’s newly-installed elevator to the renovated “Independence Floor,” enhancements made possible through the MLB All-Star Legacy Project initiative.

Later that afternoon, at Citizens Bank Park, Schwarber hosted VMC veterans for a private meet-and-greet and batting practice experience.

Schwarber’s Neighborhood Heroes was founded by Kyle and his wife, Paige, to support wellness, education and crisis needs of police, fire and military personnel and their families. To date, more than $1 million has been raised in support of these heroes and their families.
