Angels to unveil life-size Trout bobblehead

Ceremony is in honor of slugger unanimously winning 2014 AL MVP Award

ANAHEIM -- Mike Trout is getting his own bobblehead. No, not a bobblehead giveaway -- been there, done that.

In commemoration of his unanimous selection for the 2014 American League Most Valuable Player Award, the Angels are erecting a life-size Trout bobblehead at their ballpark for fans to take photos and admire.

The Angels announced the plans Tuesday, and the team will unveil the 6-foot-2 Trout bobblehead at the Music Garden/Trout Farm area at 5 p.m. PT before Friday's game against the Rangers.

Last year, after two consecutive seasons as a runner-up to Miguel Cabrera, Trout became the first unanimous AL MVP Award winner since Ken Griffey Jr. in 1997, and the third-youngest player to win the award. Trout -- also one week removed from being the first back-to-back All-Star Game MVP Award winner in history -- joined Don Baylor and Vladimir Guerrero as players to win the AL MVP Award in an Angels uniform.

"I think it's going to be cool," Trout said of the life-size bobblehead. "I can't wait to see it."
