Late P.R. director to be honored with LUNGevity bow ties

BALTIMORE -- In memory of the late Orioles public relations director Monica Barlow, the Oriole Bird mascot and FOX Sports reporter Ken Rosenthal will wear special LUNGevity bow ties during Saturday's game against the Yankees, which begins at 7:15 p.m.

Barlow, who passed away from Stage IV lung cancer in February 2014 at the age of 36, had been a participant in LUNGevity's Breathe Deep Baltimore and D.C. walks, and would have celebrated her 38th birthday last week.

LUNGevity is a non-profit organization aimed at raising money for life-saving lung cancer research and creating awareness about the disease, and it was also chosen as the beneficiary for the MLB Winter Meetings Auction in tribute to Barlow.

Fans are encouraged to stop by LUNGevity's photo booth at the Kids Corner at Oriole Park to take photos with bow tie props, the Oriole Bird and Rosenthal, and also to learn more about LUNGevity's Breathe Deep Walk taking place at Oriole Park on Oct. 3, 2015.

Connor Smolensky is an associate reporter for MLB.com.
