Local star athletes get the call to be Phillies Ballgirls, presented by Macy's
New team gathers for first time on Saturday
The 2015 Phillies Ballgirls roster is set, with 13 local star athletes and area standouts added to this year's squad.
Presented by Macy's, the Phillies Ballgirls program represents educated, athletic and energetic women who serve as role models in professional sports for young girls. In addition to their work on the field, Phillies Ballgirls make over 150 off-field appearances and play softball games for charity. They are also involved in the Phillies environmental initiatives, including captaining the Red Goes Green team.
"We were so impressed by this year's candidates," said Michele DeVicaris, Manager for the Phillies Ballgirls. "Each took part in an intense tryout process, which included testing the candidate's softball skills, interpersonal skills and baseball knowledge. The new additions are the cream of the crop, and will undoubtedly be tremendous role models both on and off the field."
Also returning to the 2015 roster are 11 Phillies Ballgirls from last season. The entire squad will gather for the first time this Saturday, January 17, at Citizens Bank Park for their first photo shoot.
