Cain, Davis, Ventura receive Royals' team awards

Outfielder Lorenzo Cain, reliever Wade Davis and starter Yordano Ventura have been honored with the Royals' team awards as voted on by the Kansas City chapter of the BBWAA.

Cain was the Les Milgram Player of the Year Award recipient, while Davis took home the Bruce Rice Pitcher of the Year honor and Ventura earned the Joe Burke Special Achievement Award. All three were first-time winners of the respective honors.

Cain was a breakout player for Kansas City, hitting .301 with 29 doubles, four triples, five homers, a career-best 29 stole bases and 53 RBIs. He also excelled in the postseason, earning MVP honors in the ALCS while hitting .333 during the playoffs.

Davis turned in an historic season, leading all Major League relievers with a 1.00 ERA over 72 innings, the seventh-best all-time mark by an AL reliever who threw 50-plus innings. He also went 2-0 with a 0.63 ERA in 12 postseason appearances.

Ventura went 14-10 with a 3.20 ERA in his rookie season, going 7-2 with a 2.63 ERA in his final 12 starts of the regular season.
