Kendrick caps comeback vs. D-backs

LOS ANGELES -- Rookie Joc Pederson homered again to tie the game and Howie Kendrick's tie-breaking RBI single helped lift the Dodgers to a 6-4 comeback win over the D-backs Saturday night at Dodger Stadium.

Arizona led three times, on a two-run homer by Paul Goldschmidt in the first inning, an RBI single by Ender Inciarte in the second inning and an Aaron Hill solo homer in the fourth inning, all off Dodgers starter Scott Baker.

The Dodgers rallied against Jeremy Hellickson on a homer by Justin Turner (third this week), an RBI double by Adrian Gonzalez and an RBI single by Scott Van Slyke (10-game hitting streak). Pederson, who earlier struck out three times, tied the game with his sixth home run of the season and fourth in as many starts, a blast to center field off reliever Evan Marshall with two out in the bottom of the seventh inning, followed by a Turner double and Kendrick's go-ahead RBI single. Jimmy Rollins' RBI single in the eighth added an insurance run.

"We kept fighting," said Dodgers manager Don Mattingly.

Hellickson allowed three runs in 5 1/3 innings. Baker lasted only four innings (allowed four runs) and has served up four homers in 11 innings since moving into the fifth starter spot of the injured Hyun-Jin Ryu. Chris Hatcher picked up the save on a bizarre finish, as baserunner Jordan Pacheco was struck on the foot by David Peralta's ground single for the final out.

MOMENTS THAT MATTERED
Hold 'em there: Taking over in the fifth inning, long reliever Juan Nicasio pitched three perfect innings and kept the Dodgers in the game after a four-inning start from Baker. Nicasio was credited with the win and has a 1.46 ERA. More >

Goldy goes yard (again): No one has hit more home runs (16) or driven in more runs (53) against the Dodgers since Aug. 1, 2011, than Goldschmidt. The first baseman was at it again Saturday when he smacked a two-run homer in the first inning to give Arizona an early lead.

Yaz breaks out: Dodgers catcher Yasmani Grandal snapped an 0-for-13 slump with three hits and scored the club's final run.

Tough night for Marshall: Last year as a rookie Marshall was one of Arizona's best relievers. This year he has struggled to find his groove. Summoned to start the seventh and protect a 4-3 lead, Marshall got the first two outs of the inning before yielding two runs to give the Dodgers a 5-4 advantage. More >

QUOTABLE
"To lose a game with getting hit and a runner getting hit by a ball, it's really embarrassing, is what it is. It is a tough way to lose." -- D-backs manager Chip Hale on Pacheco being hit with a ground ball to end the game while running the base More >

WHAT'S NEXT
D-backs: Right-hander Chase Anderson will face the Dodgers for the second time this season when he starts the series finale Sunday afternoon. The D-backs then head to Denver after the game where they take on the Rockies in a three-game series.

Dodgers: Starting pitcher Brett Anderson wraps up the homestand, looking to rest the bullpen after being unable to finish at least five innings in each of his last three starts. Juan Uribe and his 11-game hitting streak are expected to return to the starting lineup after not starting the first two games of the series.
