Majestic launches 'Always Game' award

Apparently, the people at Majestic Athletic love to see the uniforms they manufacture for Major League players get really dirty.

The company, a licensee of the Players Association, has announced it will present its first "Always Game" award as part of the Players Choice Awards on Nov. 9 at 8 p.m. ET on MLB Network.

The "Always Game" award will be given to the player who, game in and game out, constantly exhibits grit, tenacity, perseverance and hustle -- all for the benefit of his teammates and fans.

Jose Altuve of the Astros, Josh Donaldson of the Blue Jays and Dee Gordon of the Marlins are the three finalists selected by players in balloting that coincided with their regular Players Choice Awards balloting that took place in clubhouses on Sept. 16. The original nominees were selected by Majestic Athletic and a panel of baseball experts.

"The Always Game award exemplifies performance punctuated by positive energy, hustle, relentlessness and sportsmanship," said Jim Pisani, president at Majestic Athletic. "This approach mirrors and symbolizes the sustained commitment of our many associates at Majestic Athletic."

The award is be a good fit with the Players Choice Awards, in which the players annually honor each league's outstanding player, pitcher, rookie and comeback player, as well as the overall Player of the Year and the Marvin Miller Man of the Year.

"Majestic Athletic's 'Always Game' award, determined by the players, helps shine an additional spotlight on the awe-inspiring performances baseball fans everywhere witness throughout the season," said Evan Kaplan, the MLBPA's director, licensing & business development.
