Mariners salute fans with annual Fan Appreciation Night & Kids Appreciation Day

Final weekend games of season feature prizes and special events at Safeco Field

Airfare for two anywhere in the contiguous U.S., seven-day Holland America Line cruises, a flat screen TV, 2013 Opening Night tickets, and player autographed memorabilia are among the prizes that will be awarded this weekend for Fan Appreciation Night and Kids Appreciation Day at Safeco Field.

Fan Appreciation Night, Friday, September 21 (Mariners vs. Texas Rangers)

Start time for the game on Friday, September 21, is 7:10pm. Gates at The ‘Pen open at 4:40pm. All other gates open at 5:10pm. During batting practice, fans have the chance to catch specially marked balls redeemable for Mariners autographs. All fans will receive a 2012 Seattle Mariners team poster with a preview of the 2013 season schedule, courtesy of Alaska Airlines and Holland America Line. There will be random drawings for prizes throughout the game including airfare for two anywhere in the lower 48 states, Holland America Line seven-day cruises, an Amazon Kindle, iPod nano, 42” flat screen TV, 2013 Opening Night tickets, the chance to throw out a first pitch before a game next season, be a guest groundskeeper for a day, a one-hour on field batting practice for 10 people, authentic jerseys and much more.

During the pre-game ceremony, which starts at 6:30pm, the Mariners will honor Sid and Bette Snyder as the 2012 Fans of the Year. There will also be special fan awards including Fan Historian of the Year, longtime season ticket holder Patty Skommesa, Fan Sign of the year, the Ackley Boys from Section 308, and Perfect Fan of the Year, 14-month old Bode Dockal, who attended both perfect games at Safeco Field this summer. The Mariners will also honor the ROOT SPORTS Ultimate Northwest Fans of the Year from Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana and Alaska.

Fans still have time to vote on the Moment of the Year. Among the six options are the 21 runs scored against the Texas Rangers on May 30, and Felix’s perfect game. Voting ends at midnight tonight. One lucky fan who votes online will win four tickets to Friday’s game and the opportunity to present the Moment of the Year plaque during the pregame ceremony.

The Baseball Writers Association of America Seattle Chapter will present its annual Mariners team awards including MVP, Pitcher of the Year, Unsung Hero and the Major League Baseball Players Association Annual Heart & Hustle Award.

Kids Appreciation Day, Sunday, September 23 (Mariners vs. Texas)

The festivities continue on Sunday, September 23, with Kids Appreciation Day, presented by Ivar’s & Kidd Valley. Game time is 1:10 p.m. All kids will receive a Mariner Moose poster and be entered to win great prizes to be drawn at random during the game including a Nintendo Wii, iPods, a $250 Seattle Mariners Team Store shopping spree, flat screen TV, autographed baseballs, and more.

 

All kids 14-and-younger are invited to participate in a pregame on-field parade starting at 11:30am. During the game, mascots from around the Northwest will entertain the crowd and there will be a special Fan Zone near Section 184 with face painters, balloon artists, a Mariners prize wheel, free photo I.D.s for kids, and a Mariners coloring contest.

Tickets for Fan Appreciation Night and Kids Appreciation Day and all other games on the Mariners 2012 home schedule, are available at www.mariners.com/tickets. They can also be purchased with no service charge at Seattle Mariners Team Stores (Bellevue Square, Southcenter Mall, Alderwood Mall, and at 4th and Stewart in downtown Seattle) and the Safeco Field box office. Tickets are also available at Ticketmaster Ticket Centers, or by calling 1-888-SEA-HITS.

Saturday’s Start Time is 6:10 p.m.

The start time for the game on Saturday, September 22, is 6:10 p.m. Gates at The ‘Pen open at 3:40pm, and all other gates open at 4:10pm. The start time for that game had been listed on printed schedules as 1:10pm OR 6:10pm.
